David’s comprehensive project portfolio ranges from a $4 million, 6-story historic building renovation to the ground-up construction of a 43,000 square foot fitness club. And he’s done everything in between. Projects include school district buildings, large-scale retail, restaurants and hotels for clients such as Barnes & Noble, El Con Mall, Reid Park Zoo and LA Fitness. He manages an innovative and experienced project team of designers, supervisors and craftsman who are committed to completing your project on time and on budget.



Les Martin

Tucson / Director of Operations

Originally from Southern California, Les studied construction technology and architectural drafting at Fullerton College. He started with Canyon as a superintendent in 2000 and has shown himself to be a valuable asset as a Project Manager. Les has worked on a wide variety of projects ranging from a 450,000 square foot assisted living facility to the remodel and restoration of the BioSphere 2 science facility managed by The University of Arizona. Other projects include automotive dealerships, retail shopping centers, multifamily housing, educational facilities, full service car washes and industrial manufacturing facilities.




Mark Martin

Tucson / Project Manager

Mark has 20 years experience in the construction industry and holds certificates in Procurement/Materials Management and Accounting from UCLA. His experience includes a wide variety of projects including Crossing Point Villas subdivision, Kino Soccer Stadium, Kino Pool, Chapman Volkswagen, various health care facilities, automatic car washes and custom homes. He has experience working with The Arizona Department of Housing, Pima County Procurement, statewide non-profit organizations as well as private investors. Before moving to Tucson, Mark worked as a contract administrator in the aerospace industry. While working for Rockwell International Mark was responsible for procurement of major electronic systems for the B-1 Bomber and major structures for the space shuttle.




Amanda Gattenby

Tucson / Project Manager

Since 2003, Amanda has overseen new construction and rehabilitation affordable housing projects from design coordination to purchasing and closeout for final occupancy. She has delivered more than 1,100 units of newly constructed or remodeled inventory, and over 90,000 square feet of commercial product. Affordable housing is her passion and she joins the Canyon team as a Project Manager.




Rosalio Valenzuela

Tucson / Project Manager

Ross earned his bachelor degree in architecture back in 2013. Since then he has been involved in every aspect of commercial construction. He started his career as an Assistant Superintendent and grew to acquiring experience as a Project Engineer, Project Superintendent, and Project Manager. He is experienced in a variety of project industries including retail store spaces, misc. renovations, medical facilities, religious spaces, and more. With his design background, proficiency with technology, and construction scheduling skills, he has quickly become an asset to the Canyon team.




Steve Richardson

Tucson / Quality & Safety

Steve has over 20 years of experience in construction throughout the western United States including Washington, California, Oregon, and Arizona. He has performed in the role of Foreman, Superintendent, General Superintendent, Estimator, Project Manager, Safety Manager and Risk Management. His experience includes projects in the following areas: laboratories, clean rooms, hospitals, behavioral health facilities, parking structures, residential housing, multi-family, aviation, educational facilities, and mines. Steve has many years as a safety and environmental professional in construction and has completed a large variety of certification courses for safety standards and construction best practices.




Willie Alejandro

Tucson / Head Superintendent

Willie has been with Canyon since 2000 and has 30 years experience in retail, industrial, commercial and residential construction. Projects include Blockbuster, Mervyn’s, Bloomingdales, Victoria’s Secret, Century Theaters, Basis Schools, Harley Davidson and Mercedes Benz of Tucson. He managed all phases of renovations on properties damaged during the 1994 earthquake in California and he was a project manager for a retail build out that included more than 30 store fronts in 6 major markets.



Terry Jenni

Phoenix / Director of Operations

Terry has been in the construction industry for over 21 years. His experience includes hospitals, mid-rise commercial/residential combinations, hotels, custom homes, office buildings, microchip fabrication and clean room facilities, schools, restaurants, multifamily housing and tenant improvements. Terry also has experience building in harsh weather conditions from sub freezing temperatures in Fairbank, AK to extreme heat in Lake Havasu, AZ.




Ted Schollenberger

Phoenix / Project Manager

Ted is a licensed architect and builder in Arizona with 30 plus years construction experience, with emphasis on complex multi-phase projects with tight schedules. Ted’s experience includes design management, budget development, value engineering, site selection as well as the traditional project management skills of developing and managing schedules, contracts, pay applications, etc. He has built ground up office buildings, schools, residential lofts, retail shopping centers, restaurants, townhouse developments and several hundred TI projects and he has worked in several states across the U.S.




Ryan Park

Phoenix / Project Manager

Ryan has over 10 years of real estate development, construction, and business management experience. He earned a degree in Construction Management from the Del Webb School at Arizona State University in 2006. In the spring of 2014 he earned his Associate Constructor Certification from the American Institute of Constructors. Ryan’s background includes prestigious resort communities, including Desert Highlands, Desert Mountain, and Superstition Mountain. Since starting with Canyon in 2014 he has completed a 50,000 sqaure foot charter school in Colorado, a 68,000 square foot campus renovation, a 3,500 square foot custom home and several retail build outs.




Dave Zipser

Phoenix / Project Manager

Dave has over 18 years of experience in management, commercial construction, and engineering. During his career, he has supervised, developed, and designed projects totaling over 1 million square feet and valued at over $750 million dollars. Mr. Zipser is highly skilled in contract negotiation, project estimating, value engineering, bid analysis, and construction management. Dave has a proven track record for the successful completion of large scale commercial construction projects. His project management philosophy is based on managing resources and stimulating collaboration across entire project teams. Dave graduated from Barrett The Honors College at Arizona State University where he received his B.S. in Marketing. Mr. Zipser also holds an MBA in Management from the Ken Blanchard College of Business at Grand Canyon University.
